Get ready, North America! Samskrita Bharati is launching an exciting initiative: 108 spoken Samskritam (Sanskrit) weekend workshops across the continent. These immersive workshops are part of our special Samskrita-abhiyanam 2012 program, running from September to November 2012.
What Can You Expect from a Samskritam Workshop?
Our workshops are designed to be incredibly interactive and immersive, making learning Samskritam a truly engaging experience. The best part? You don’t need any prior knowledge of Samskritam to join! Whether you’re a complete beginner or just curious, our program is tailored to welcome everyone.
By the end of a weekend workshop, you’ll be amazed at what you can do! Participants typically gain the ability to understand simple stories in Samskritam. But it doesn’t stop there – you’ll also get to demonstrate your newly acquired skills by performing extempore skits, entirely in Samskritam! It’s a fun and practical way to solidify your learning. (You can even check out some videos from previous workshops to see the excitement for yourself!)
Why 108 Workshops? And What’s “Samskrita-abhiyanam”?
You might be wondering about the number 108. It holds special significance in many Dharma-based traditions like Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism, making it a meaningful target for our ambitious program.
As for “abhiyanam,” it’s a Samskrit word that means “a purposeful movement toward a goal.” In this case, the goal of the Samskrita-abhiyanam 2012 is clear: to spread the beauty and knowledge of Samskritam farther and wider than ever before. We truly believe this is a worthy and impactful goal!
