These committed individuals are the driving force behind our mission to revitalize Samskritam, from organizing engaging spoken Samskritam camps to leading regular classes. They generously contribute their time and energy to share the joy of Samskritam learning with communities everywhere.
The Karyakarta’s Diverse Role
The work of a Samskrita Bharati karyakarta is incredibly varied, encompassing:
- Teaching: Leading spoken Samskritam camps (like the L1 Samskritam Sambhashana Shibiram) and weekly classes at various levels.
- Event Organization: Planning and running events, including managing recurring schedules and communicating with students.
- Outreach: Promoting activities and sharing experiences to spread awareness.
- Administration: Handling tasks like website updates, coordination, and financial contributions.
Resources and Support for Karyakartas
Samskrita Bharati provides essential resources and support systems to empower our volunteers:
- Online Class Platforms: We maximize the use of existing Zoom accounts for online spoken Samskritam classes. Karyakartas can provide details of their acquired Zoom accounts for classes in their karyasthanam (local center) via a dedicated form.
- Website Management: A designated karyakarta Team manages the USA page on the this website, posting announcements and reports for national programs (e.g., family camps, SAFL program).
- Coordination Contacts: To streamline communication, karyakartas provide one central contact each for the USA and Canada. Local center pages are also linked.
- Class Management Guidance: When organizing classes, karyakartas identify instructors, encourage student registration for commitment, and allow the instructor to manage the class. This includes setting up Google groups, sending reminders, providing summaries, and assigning homework.
- Promotional Tools: Karyakartas are encouraged to use social media (Facebook, Twitter, Google+) to promote Samskritam activities and share workshop experiences to further propagate Samskritam.
- Financial Contributions: Karyakartas are involved in fundraising, including collecting Samaajanidhi (community contributions). Donations can be made by check (payable to Samskrita Bharati and mailed to our PO Box) or directly through our website.
- Study Materials: Participants are encouraged to complete the Abhyasapustakam. Information on distance learning, bookstore resources, and the Samskritam as a Foreign Language (SAFL) program is available on the Samskrita Bharati USA website. Weekly Samskritam news magazines and videos are also accessible on YouTube.
- Event Operational Support: For events like camps, karyakartas handle practical aspects such as providing course materials, meals, snacks, participant labels, and ensuring necessary equipment like LCD projectors are available.
Important Operational Details
