Samskritam Programs & Events

Samskrita Bharati USA offers a diverse range of engaging programs and events throughout the year. Our goal is to help individuals of all ages and proficiency levels connect with Samskritam and its rich cultural heritage. These initiatives are made possible primarily by the generous financial contributions from our well-wishers.

In-Person Classes

Visit the Samskrita-Kendram Locations page to check out in-person classes that are help in your area.

Immersive Learning at Residential Camps

We organize several residential camps that provide immersive environments for learning Samskritam and experiencing Hindu culture firsthand. These camps are open to various age groups and are highly sought after. Due to limited accommodation, we encourage early registration to secure a spot.

For more information and to find upcoming camp details, please visit: camps.samskritabharatiusa.org

Spoken Samskritam Workshops

Beyond camps and competitions, Samskrita Bharati USA provides structured learning opportunities through popular Spoken Samskritam workshops. These intensive workshops are often held over a single weekend and have proven transformative for many. Dedicating just one weekend to Samskritam study has inspired countless individuals to pursue the larger goal of speaking Samskritam fluently. You may get in touch with Samskrita Bharati USA to organize a spoken Samskritam workshop near you!

These diverse programs highlight that even a single beginner class can ignite a lifelong passion and lead to real proficiency in Samskritam with consistent learning and practice. We invite you to explore our offerings and begin your Samskritam journey!

Competitions and Special Events

Samskrita Bharati USA also hosts a variety of competitions and special events designed to foster deeper engagement with Samskritam:

  • Vishva Samskritam Dinam: Every year, local Samskrita Bharati chapters celebrate several festivals, with Shravana Purnima being observed as “Vishva Samskritam Dinam” (World Sanskrit Day). Numerous cultural programs are held in various cities to commemorate this day.
  • Kālidāsa-Goṣṭhī: To celebrate Kālidāsa Day, our Prauḍha-Śikṣaṇa Vibhāga (Adult Education Department) organizes special Kālidāsa-Goṣthī events. Here, volunteers who began their Samskritam journey in beginner classes present their insights into Kālidāsa’s timeless works entirely in pure Samskritam.
  • Pratimālā-Spardhā: This exciting event is the Samskritam version of the traditional antākṣarī game. Young learners (ages 16–28) from our children’s classes or the SAFL program meet weekly to train for this competition.
  • Śabda-Spardhā: Children from chapters across the country prepare for this spelling-bee-style contest in Samskritam. Additionally, Samskrita Bharati offers a free daily new Samskritam word for all ages to expand their vocabulary.
  • International Samskrit Short Film Festival (ISSFF): We actively promote Samskritam as a communication medium across various fields, including film. Samskrita Bharati – Bhāratam, in association with SBUSA, organizes the International Samskrit Short Film Festival, showcasing numerous short films and reels created entirely in Samskritam.
  • Game Jam Event in Samskritam – “Code4Samskritam”: This unique event invites coders and enthusiasts to conceive and create “Games in Samskritam,” merging technology with traditional language.
