Samskrita Bharati’s youth camps have always been a vibrant space for teenagers to connect with Samskritam. Let’s take a look at the early years and how these camps grew in popularity and impact.
2007: Shraddhaa – The First Spark
Shraddhaa-2007 marked a significant milestone as our first residential youth camp. Over 20 teenagers attended, and any initial worries they had about learning Samskritam quickly disappeared. By the end of the first day, they were enthusiastic learners, eager to return the following year! The most common feedback? Four days just weren’t enough!
2008: Expanding Horizons
In response to the overwhelming demand from the previous year, Shraddhaa-2008 was extended to a six-day camp. This year also saw the introduction of Prajnaa-2008, our first residential youth camp on the West Coast, which welcomed about 15 teenagers.
2009: Growing Participation and New Talent
Shraddhaa-2009 experienced an increase in attendance, with 25 teenagers participating in the camp at AVG. This year was also notable for the debut of several new youth instructors who joined as teachers or teaching assistants, bringing fresh energy to the program. Meanwhile, Prajnaa-2009, the second annual residential youth camp on the West Coast, saw 15 teenagers participate.
2010: Prajnaa Continues to Thrive
Prajnaa-2010 was held in California during the week of June 20-26, continuing the tradition of engaging and enriching experiences for young Samskritam learners.
